Cheating Death

I usually don’t write personal stories here, but I think this one is mildly interesting. Today (May 17th 2007), I was driving to a martial arts seminar in Watauga after leaving the DABE meeting in Dallas. I was traveling westbound on Hwy 183 at 70 mph. As I passed the Loop 12 exit, I saw a red two-seated car spinning out in the grassy median to my right. It spun across the highway and hit the median. It stopped facing me. I saw inside the car that the driver’s head was swaying downwards back and forth. Without looking, I changed lanes from left to right and just barely avoided a collision. About a block down the freeway, it sunk in and I realized what had happened. So, I dialed 911 and reported the accident. It’s interesting how quickly circumstances can change and choices have to be made on the fly.
